So I have to get the CT/Myelogram. Apparently, it is the "gold standard" for my situation; it is also the road map the surgeon will use to navigate my insides while I am under the knife.
Basically, the doctor said my herniated discs (plural!) are causing compression of my spinal cord. If this worsens (I'd have to take a bad fall or be in an accident or something), I could eventually be paralyzed from the neck down. Whoa...in that case, surgery it is!
And I will be out of work for 6 whole weeks. That is kinda cool, as I am pretty burnt out, to be honest. But that means we'll have to dip into some money Matt has through work (not sure if it's the 401k, but something like that) to make ends meet while I'm out.
And, seriously...is it baby season or something? I swear every single person I know on Facebook is pregnant right now. Everyone's profile pic is of their burgeoning bun in the oven. I am happy for everybody, but it's a painful reminder that I get to start 2010 with spinal surgery instead of TTC. I know there is plenty of time for babies and that right now getting 100% healthy is the most important thing, but it's just a big disappointment.
Oh well...that's life, right? I am doing better with everything today. I have accepted that there is no other option and I need to have surgery to live the healthiest and safest life I can live and be in the best shape possible for child bearing.
To think I was going to cancel my ortho appointment and stick with the chiropractor. I never would have found out about my discs and would have been a walking time bomb. While my situation sucks, for that I am very fortunate.
So, surgery prep begins. Please post book, movie, tv series recommendations...6 weeks is a long time, and I'm going to need something to do to fill every idle moment!

Do you watch Big Love? That's my favorite to watch when I'm sick.
I know you must be really scared. Hang in there!!
Yikes. I hope the surgery goes well.
