Happy Anniversary -- to us!!!

Today is our 1 year anniversary! We went away to Galena for the weekend and it was perfect...super relaxing and romantic. I am so lucky to be married to my best friend and to experience such happiness when I'm with him.

We walked around all day Saturday before getting some drinks at One Eleven Main (where we chatted with a nice Serbian exchange student for a while). Then we had dinner at Fried Green Tomatoes (the first restaurant we ate at after he proposed back in '06!). And I have to say, it is a small world indeed...I noticed our waited had a Serbian accent, so I asked if he's a permanent resident or an exchange student. We found out he's also an exchange student, and his girlfriend is the same girl we had chatted with earlier that same day!

After dinner we ended up at Miss Kitty's Martini Bar. You know you're in for a good time when the windows are draped in leopard print fabric and the owner has hot pink hair and every spare inch of her body is heavily tattooed. We sang karaoke and got drunk on martinis before heading back to the B&B. I was so drunk I smoked a clove...and I HATE smoking!

The next morning we tried out a local coffee shop and walked around some more. We debated whether or not to buy an expensive nature photo from an art gallery and decided against it for the time being. Then we started our way home. We stopped and had lunch at The Rafters, a restaurant in a renovated barn. It was delicious! I pretty much crashed for the night when we got home.

Today I've been experiencing some light spotting - and my period isn't due for another 2-3 weeks. I don't want to jump the gun here, but I'm wondering if this could be implantation bleeding? I guess I'll just have to be patient and wait and see. It wouldn't be the best timing, but we'd be ecstatic!

Anyhow, in the spirit of our anniversary, I've decided to partake in the romance challenge someone posted on The Nest. I like these ideas:

The Nice:
· Take your husband to a Pre Season game (I'm going to try to take him to a hockey event somewhere)
· Has it been a while since you got your kiss on? Think of a word and every time he says it lay one on him! You can do this for the entire month or just a week…or just until he figures out that if he says that magic word he will get a kiss. (I think the magic word is going to be "hairdo" - long story)
· If you have been too busy for the oldies but goodies use this time to do one of them - visit a local arcade, game of pool, bowling or skating. (We haven't been bowling in over a year - it's definitely time! I'm going to kick his butt!)
On to the Naughty:
· Break out the naughty dice you got from your bridal shower. (I think we have some fun stuff from before we were married we could resurrect.)
· Play "Taste the Rainbow". Blindfold your partner and feed them fruity candies. See if they can guess each flavor. Next, put the candy in your mouth and then give them a kiss. See if they can guess the flavors. (Sounds like fun!)
· Play 7 Nights of Fun (a different piece of lingerie or costume every night for 7 days) (I think it's time for a trip to Victoria's Secret - Matty is going to LOVE this idea!!)
