Life has been crazy lately! Matt officially got his promotion, which we celebrated by drinking copious amounts of alcohol Friday night. Saturday I went to class all day; then Matt's sister and mother came over to watch the Hawks defeat Vancouver (yay!!!). Sunday we took a family road trip to Galena in the new car. I still can't figure out how to get the A/C to actually blow cold air, though, which is frustrating.
Today I went on a job interview for a--get this--regular 7th grade Language Arts position at a public school in Elk Grove Village. Keep your fingers crossed for me! I asked when I can expect to hear something, and the principal said definitely by Friday or next Monday. I think it went well. I wish I could go back and change a few answers, but I can't, so I just have to make peace with the fact that I did my best and if it's meant to be, it will be.
A lot of other crap went down at work on Friday that I simply don't have the energy to divulge right now, except to say my male co-worker forged info to include on his self-appraisal to try to get me in trouble (had his wife fax him what to write...he c&p'd it directly into his review). He's trying to say discussions about his overall performance haven't been kept strictly between him and me. Basically, he's paranoid and thinks my other colleague and I just gossip about him all day. She has come to me throughout the year with valid complaints, which I am obligated to listen to as her boss. I refuse to defend myself, as I've done nothing wrong, and he filed his complaint fraudulently (he doesn't know I know yet).
A few of my students and some parents presented at the board meeting tonight, on behalf of the Ombudsman program. Unfortunately, we were at the bottom of the agenda, and the first portion of the meeting lasted until 10:30. We finally got to go at 10:30, so I'm just now getting home. It was really moving, though, and totally worth the wait. I truly love my job and my students. There is no other way I'd choose to spend my time and my life...ok, except maybe sleeping. And that's what I'm off to do right now! Goodnight, all!

Yay for the official notice of Matt's promotion.
Your co-worker sounds like a real jerk. I am so glad you are handling it so well. Better than me!
