Closing Time

Tonight we had a graduation ceremony for the first ever graduating class of Ombudsman DeKalb!!! I had to give a speech (which I will post on Monday). I was soooo nervous beforehand, but I managed to compose myself and get the thing started calmly and confidently. About 3/4 of the way through, I started bawling! At that point, so did everyone else! It was an amazing night. I got to say goodbye to my seniors, who are very near and dear to me. I got to say what was on my mind and in my heart, and I am so happy they are embarking on their futures knowing full well how much they mean to me and how much I believe in them.

Here are some pics of the center decor (I bought the supplies and my non-grads put everything together!) and the graduating class:

I am saddened to let them go but feel so blessed to have had them in my life at all. They are my life's work. I have given it my all, in the hope that they will go out into the world and do the same.

Congrats to the graduating class and to you for being an amazing teacher for the next generation. I can't wait to ready your speech.
