Music & Movie Monday
What am I listening to these days? I found my old Phantom Planet CD in the trunk of my car and I have been listening to it nonstop since Monday! I saw them open for Incubus in concert back when I was in college, and I actually thought they were better than Incubus.
As for movies, I watched Waitress last week. Quick synopsis: A small-town waitress (played by Keri Russel) works at a local diner, bakes amazing pies and wants to enter a pie baking contest to win prize money. She is pregnant (initially unbeknown to her husband) but doesn't want to be, and is in an abusive relationship. Don't worry, it's not all gloom and doom. It's actually pretty light in tone and produces a lot of laughs. She strikes up an affair with her OB GYN (see, I told you it was funny) that lasts throughout her pregnancy. I'll stop there. Do her feelings about her unborn child change? Does she leave her husband? Does she enter that pie baking contest? Does she end up with the good doctor? You'll just have to watch to find out! ;)
Tea Leaves Tuesday
According to tarot.com, this is my horoscope for tomorrow: "The Moon's return to your quixotic sign might reveal how your feelings are in conflict with the practical realities of your life."
And how! Tomorrow is D-Day. My weirdo, passive aggressive co-worker is getting shit canned (my boss is coming to the center to give him the news). I have not said a word to him about reviews being tomorrow. At the end of the day today, my co-worker said, "Tomorrow's the Big Day" with a smirk on his face. I said, "Oh, because it's the last day before summer break for you?" Rather coldly, he said, "I don't know."
I took it to mean he knows what is coming and has something up his sleeve (I joked with my other co-worker we'll need to check him for weapons at the door tomorrow); that's how I feel, what I fear. My normal, sane co-worker told me she thinks he knows it's coming and it was just his way of letting me know he knows (being dick-ish about it). So that would be my imagination/emotion conflicting with the reality/most likely outcome.
Words of Wisdom Wednesday
Since I'm watching Little Women, I figure I may as well share my favorite quote from the film (as Marmie says to her girls): "If you feel your value lies only in being merely decorative, I fear that someday you might find yourself believing that's all you really are. Time erodes all such beauty, but what it cannot diminish is the wonderful workings of your mind." I love this! The outside is just a shell, a vehicle for bringing the inner workings of our minds and hearts to fruition.
