My first follow-up appointment went very well; x-rays confirmed the bone grafts are still solidly in place, and I was happy to hear my stitches were ready to come out.
People are still asking me exactly what was wrong and what I had done. I found this video, which pretty much sums it up: ACDF procedure
WARNING: Although animated, the video is somewhat graphic.
My doctor told me I can continue to take baby aspirin to prevent clots and that I should take calcium and vitamin B supplements to aid the fusion process. He said in two more weeks, I should be able to switch to a soft collar. I am so happy to know I'll be in a soft collar when my birthday gets here!
Speaking of my birthday, I am off to research some possibilities for the big day. I am trying to find somewhere fun to meet up with a group of people for drinks. Once I narrow down the options, I'll post them on here so you guys can help me choose!
