Working girl

Things are going well on the job. The first day I sorted mail, which was actually rather fun. I'm so used to a job that is mentally and emotionally taxing, so it's always a nice change to do something very mechanical. For the next couple weeks I'll probably be entering survey comments. All I do is grab a box, fill out a form to document the file I'm working on, and type away for hours on end - I love it! I like being able to listen to my IPod and just get consumed by the task at hand. Time flies and it's nice to help out my MIL. I can see her office is really busy right now, so I know the extra help is actually needed and not just a kind gesture.

On a different note...night I went running with Trisha. We actually ran for 3 minutes at a time! My calves are killing me now, though. It was a fun run...we got harassed by a group of 6-year-olds with bikes, and then we were almost decapitated by the crazy bird that lives in the empty lot behind us. Yeah, the bird story is funny...

Matt was mowing the lawn one evening and every time he got close to the property line where the empty lot begins, this little bird would come running at him. He would disappear as Matt started to head back towards our house, but the little guy would always re-emerge when Matt got close to the empty lot again. So then I tried walking to the lot, and he'd coming running at me too. Well, I guess they're starting construction on that lot now, so he's getting really cantankerous. Trisha thinks it's hilarious, so we were trying to find him after our run. He actually flew into another yard and sat there for 5 minutes while we were talking. Then he started to fly in circles above us. At one point he flew around a house, and then he was flying right at us! We screamed and ran into my yard. I think we'll leave him alone from now on - haha!
