Just another random update

I've been in the process of applying to NLU's Curric & Instruction (with ESL concentration) grad program this past week. I submitted my app online (with written statement), paid the fee, and plan to submit my official transcripts on Tuesday. I took the Miller's Analogy Test on Saturday and have absolutely no idea how I did. It's one of THOSE tests...where you leave feeling like you could have passed or failed and there's nothing you can do about it but wait for your results. C'est la vie...I can always take it again if my score isn't satisfactory.

After the test the MIL came over and we all drove out to Lake Geneva for the afternoon. We got garlic fries at Champs, walked around the town and lakefront, and checked out the art show. Then we drove to a resort in a nearby lake town and had dinner there (we all opted for the $23 buffet special and ate like pigs!). Then we were pleasantly surprised to discover there was karaoke at the bar down the hall. So Matt and I sang and drank and entertained his mom until about midnight. I ended up driving us home, which only took about 45 minutes. We crashed around 2am, after watching funny anti-Obama videos on YouTube.

We got up today around 11 and played with the kitties before driving to Geneva (not Lake Geneva, just Geneva lol). We had breakfast at Egg Harbor and then walked around and went into some of the shops. Matt and I bought a cute "Welcome to Our Home" sign for our front yard. Then we watched the last two innings of the White Sox game at a bar before heading home.

Now I'm trying to switch gears and mentally/emotionally prepare myself for the fact that I have to go back to work tomorrow. I have to attend some workshop in Schaumburg for the day. I didn't get my hair cut or eyebrows waxed like I had wanted to, so I'll have to show up looking like a ragamuffin. I'll just have to streamline my look before I actually get into my center and start meeting with parents and training my co-workers!

I think our goal for this school year is just going to be to pay off the last of our CC debt. We need to work on how much money we blow eating/drinking out. Once I get settled into my new role as center director, I want to work on sticking to a strict shopping/meal planning schedule for the week days so we won't feel so guilty if we indulge on the weekends.

On the MM board on The Nest I read that www.volition.com is a good place to go to become a Mystery Shopper. This might be a cool way to earn some extra bucks and get free services. I'll have to look into it.

Anyway, I'm off to make a shopping list for the week before showering and crashing for the night. Peace out!
