What a Beautiful Mess

I had to write up an employee a couple weeks ago, and he's decided to re-enact the Cold War since it happened. He is worse than my students! So my OM paid my center a visit today to talk with my other employee and get her opinion on things and to smooth things over in general. Well, of course, the employee I wrote up kept trying to insinuate that he didn't see it coming and that I have not been direct enough. And he even said something to the effect of he's tried to go easy on me because he knows it's my first year as a manager, blah blah blah...what does THAT have to do with anything?! Why would HE have to go easy on ME? I am the freakin' boss! It really sucks having to manage people who are twice your age. And what makes matters worse is that my OM just sat there and did not do much to defend me. So now my employee feels like he's right and I'm wrong. My OM sent an e-mail at the end of the day saying he will call tomorrow...I'm hoping he's going to say he saw through my employee's act and isn't falling for his BS excuses. I'm not going to get my hopes up, though.
