So last night it came out that he didn't like how I had decorated the shelf in our main living/dining area and had been wanting to change it for some time. So we went to Pottery Barn first, for inspiration. After recovering from sticker shock, I suggested we check out Home Goods and Target before buying anything at PB. Two hours later, we had a beautiful (if I do say so myself!) finished product:

[Top shelf, left to right: Lantern w/tea light inside, three PB-scented pillar candles, glass candle holder with rocks and a candle inside]
[Bottom shelf, left to right: Mini candle holder with rocks and a candle inside, world globe, antique clock]
Sorry if the picture seems a little out of focus...I took it with my cell phone, and I'm sure you know how that goes.
We got the lantern and pillar candles at Home Goods. We got everything else at Target. Normally, I like to combine objects to create little vignettes, while Matt prefers to keep things separate and symmetrical. We went with his way, and we are both satisfied with the end result. The candles were originally from PB and smell just like the store. I am surprised by how potent the fragrance is, given that we haven't actually lit the candles yet.
Moral of the story: If you like stores like PB and RH, pay a visit to your local Home Goods and Target first, before you end up spending way more than you should have to for cute home accents!

One of my students gave me a PB gift card for $25 the year I bought my house. The only thing I could buy was a lunch box with matching water bottle! :)
I also love Hobby Lobby - they have great home accents. Do you have one up there?
Amen, sister.
OMG...if you like PB, JCPenney's (especially online) has TONS of knock-offs. Even furniture or wall art/decorations. It's crazy.
Very cute! I like to check out TJ Max too to see what kind of stuff they have for some awesome deals
